Our friend Birdie from Temeculah is up visiting Hume for a few days and is staying with us. She was so kind to bring all kinds of fun gifts for all of us. For the kids she brought this amazing easel that can go out on our deck. The kids can paint on it with sidewalk paint or color with sidewalk chalk. They love it. Here are some pictures of them using it yesterday. Our friend Stephanie is in one of the pictures checking out Lily and Will's artistic abilities. Lily took the picture of Darin. He is always complaining he doesn't have much face time on the blog...so here is a little cameo by Darin. :)

Little Boys' treasures
Today while doing laundry I just had to smile when I found all this stuff in the bottom of my washing machine (I know...I was taught to look in pockets...I am very lazy...) I couldn't help but smile at the treasures my boys had found in the last couple of days. I love those two little guys and the funny things they like to pick up and keep in their pockets.

Day Camp dress up day
Friday night is dress up night at Day Camp. The theme is robots so you're supposed to dress up as a robot. I am super lazy come Friday nights, so my kids have taken to dressing up however they want to. Part of the whole laziness thing is that we made very labor intensive robot costumes for Halloween this last year, and Darin took them to the office so Rich could look at them for inspiration for this years theme (or for some reason?) Well they got wrecked. I just couldn't bring myself to make another tin foil covered costume. So here they are...surprise... Jack is an army man and Hank is a pirate.

Dad's Vacay
I tried to post this last night and had all kinds of witty things to say, but I missed the cut off for the internet by like 2 minutes. Bummer. Well let me see, the first picture shows just how much Will loves his biggest brother Jack. He loves his big brothers SO MUCH and his big sister too, although she is a lot scarier acting than they are :)
The other photos are from dinner last night. The big kids (notice Lily is included, most of the time lately she is more in that group than the baby group:)) made a pizza and then ate it for dinner. This is the second time I have done this. Darin is out of town in Atlanta. From what I can tell he is "eating and napping" :) Well the kids really love to make the pizza and then they actually all like to eat it, so it is a great activity to take on while Darin is on "vacation" Darin loves it when I call his business trips "vacation" Really we can't wait for him to get home. We miss him and love him lots!!!

Short lived
For those of you who were wondering, "Oh no! What happened to Jack?" Nothing really happened. He had a wonderful time on Sunday, and stayed the night and played hard all day Monday at Wagon Train. At around 5:30 he got really homesick and wanted to come home. He called sobbing, asking to come home, so Darin and I decided that we were happy with him staying little for a little longer and we went and got him. I really think he just was exhausted... also, he has never been away from home overnight, so staying one night away is actually quite an accomplishment. Today he actually started to regret his decision, which is nice, because it means he will definetly try again next year!

Wagon Train!
Jack went to Wagon Train today! I can't believe he is old enough go to camp...
He did great when we dropped him off. Immediately he began to play tag with a group of boys. Then we put all his things in his cabin and he said, "Do I get to just wander around?" We said, "yea, just don't leave camp" and he replied with a wave, "Bye!" We had to call him over to kiss him goodbye. Hopefully he remains in good spirits throughout the rest of the week. He has never been away from us at night except a few nights of babysitters and that was always here at home. Hopefully he will love it. I am praying he will. He is there with his friend Emma who is from Arizona.
Saturday at the pool
Darin had Saturday off so we went to the pool at about 10:30. I went and got snack shop and we ate our food at the pool. After lunch we swam for another 30 to 45 minutes. We came home and Jack, Hank, Darin and I watched National Treasure and ate popcorn popped in my new popper. It was a really nice day.

Frog Hunting
I promised the boys that I would take them frog hunting so I took my lawn chair and sat by the edge of the creek yesterday afternoon while the "hunted" for frogs. It started out that they were walking along the rocks looking for frogs or tadpoles, but then they decided to go get life jackets from the boat house and then it became a swimming thing. They had so much fun. It was nice to be out of the house, too. Darin was watching Lily and Will for me. Will screamed for 30 minutes after I left. He stood at the door and yelled through the screen. He is really into me right now.

Lily in the water
This is a cute video I took of Lily at the beach in San Diego. She loved the water, but it was a little cold.
Sunday, July 13, 2008
My mom flew in to San Diego while we were there and helped us with the kids and visited with us. She then came back home with us and was here for a week. Yesterday Darin and I took her down to the airport so she could go home. It is always such a blessing to us to have her around and we are really missing Grandma today.

Big boy in a baby body
Today Will walked up to me with Jack's bicycle helmet and grunted at me to put it on his head. After I fastened the way too big helmet on his head, he immediately waddled over to Darin's bike and tried to get on it. In his mind he is just one of the big boys. I finally had to move it off the deck and he cried and made a very sad face...Such a cutie!
New Arrival!

This is our new little cousin, Oliver Christopher Braithwaite. He was born today at 9:37 am. He was 8 lbs 12 oz and 20 inches long! Congratulations Uncle Jason, Aunt Esther, and big sister Ava! We love you and wish we could be there to hold him!

Blogging trouble.
I am having a heck of a time trying to get blogger to cooperate with me. I have had difficulty loading video and now it just loaded a second set of pictures... I can't fix it right now because it's not cooperating with me. So sorry it looks crazy... I will try to fix it another day.
Swimming
Today Lily had her first swimming lesson. She was painting with Grandma before she left. Darin took her to the lesson and forgot to take pictures, so maybe next time.
The other pictures are from our time at the pool this afternoon. Darin was off today so he went with us to the pool. Grandma stayed home and watched the grumpy Will. He slept almost the whole time. Thankfully.
