Hume SD
Hi! We made it to San Diego. It was actually a really nice car trip and we are excited to be here. I have my camera, but no way to post pics, so I will have to update with photos when I get back home on Monday, July 7. We have lots planned, so I will try to keep up a little, but who knows!

Today we went on a walk around the lake with all of our kids again. It took two hours but for the most part it was a good time. I am having difficulty potty training Lily, and she ended up needing to go while on the walk. I decided to try to help her "go" in the forest, and she ended up "going" on my leg. Lucky me.
Jack and Hank's Rescue
At Day Camp yesterday, Jack rescued this little toad in the pool. I let him spend the night in the green tote (with the lid on :P) This morning we had a photo shoot and then we released him back into the wild.

Cardboard Testimony
Darin showed this to me and I can't stop thinking about it. Everyone should see it. It's so good, but it will make you cry.
One dirty boy!

First and only responder
******Warning this story is not for those of you with weak stomachs!!!***********
This morning started out about as well as could be expected with four young children. Will woke up at 6:45 (which is great for him) so I got up with him quietly and fed him breakfast. Lily got up at about 7:30 so I got her up and fed her breakfast. At around 8:00 both Jack and Hank got up and got breakfast. We were almost ready to leave for Day Camp when Hank went outside for the first time this morning. He yells, "WHAT HAPPENED!" to which we all go running out (except Will who is yelling to come out through the screen.) It seems that during the night, racoons saw fit to attack our ample supply of tadpoles the boys have been keeping in a large tote out front. I did put the lid on loosely, but was afraid of suffocating them. So the raccoons managed to kill and torture about 10 of the tadpoles, critically injure 2 and leave one traumatized tadpole alive. The boys were devastated and grossed out by the carnage, so I sent everyone inside, took a very deep breath, got some plastic grocery bags and cleaned up the mess. It was possibly the grossest thing I have ever done...YUCK!!! I don't even like to pick up the tadpoles when they are alive... The whole time I am having flashbacks to high school biology. I have to block out what I am doing so I can get through it because I am the only adult here...and who else is gonna pick up the dead and dismembered tadpoles? I can't just leave them there, I know that. It sucks to be the grown up sometimes. Well I get most of the mess cleaned up and then I have the boys come out and help me rescue the one tadpole that is still alive in the murky water (I saw it come up for air if you were wondering how I knew there was a survivor.) Jack is totally disturbed by the whole thing and won't go near the water, Hank comes through and fishes out the one survivor and one who is still alive, but injured. I ask the boys to take them to the pond and release them, but neither will. So I have to do it on the way to daycamp. After all of this Jack says under his breath, "It wouldn't have happened if you had put the lid on." I was so steamed from having to clean up the disgusting mess, that in a not so Super Mom moment, tell Jack that actually he is at fault for their deaths because if they had still been in the lake, the raccoons wouldn't have gotten to them. He then backed down and blamed the raccoons. Whatever...it's gonna be a while before we have tadpoles on our deck. I have to block those images out of my mind first. I had to come home from dropping them off and power wash the deck and clean out the container. Fun times. Sorry for the gory story, just be thankful I didn't photograph the event for the blog!

How long does it take for 7 kids and 2 moms to go 3 miles?
Keri and I took all the kids around the lake today. It wasn't actually that bad as long as we go early and plan on it taking 2 hours.
Jack and Hank pose with one of the lizards they caught.
A cute photo of Megan and Jack
Lily chose to ride with Chloe for part of the walk (well maybe half...thanks Keri for pushing her!)
Looking at the trout in the cove.

Lily's silly photo shoot...
